In the 2011 edition of "The Art & Artisans of the Ozarks" Joanna showcases her gourd lamps and decor.

Joanna Helphrey: Contact me at Lampbyjoanna@ymail.com My name is Joanna Helphrey and my adventure in gourds started in 2006. With a trip to my favorite gift shop at Lake of the Ozarks, at an eclectic little shop on business 54. Where a bowl sitting on a shelf caught my eye, thinking it was a wooden bowl I picked it up and noticed it was a gourd. Being an artistic person, the first thing I thought was I can do that! First I started with small bowls and candle holders. But I really like the thought of having something useful and uniquely beautiful. Not just something sitting on a shelf. So I started making lamps.
